Collaborative Cinema

Collaborative Cinema is, literally, a collaboration between some of the best professional filmmakers in southeastern Wisconsin and high school students who have expressed an interest in learning about and working in the filmmaking industry.

We start with an idea, your idea. We then teach the students, through a series of workshops with writers and filmmakers, how to turn that idea into a screenplay. After students work one-on-one with a professional director and producer to submit a final draft, we choose the best screenplay and we make a movie.

Using the best equipment and the best talent that is available in Wisconsin we make a short film that is shown on the big screen at the Oriental Theatre during the Milwaukee Film Festival.

Along the way, we also give a select group of students a simulated experience of being on a film set. We introduce and instruct them in the many jobs that go into the making of a movie by giving them hands-on experience. From this group of students five interns are chosen to work with the professional director and crew on-set when we make the film.
